- Fear is often the mother of courage.

mokusla is the musical alter ego of the Irish visual artist Lou Rowland. A name inspired by the Gaelic phrase ‘Mo Chuisle’ meaning my pulse, my darling.
The Glasgow-based queer artist writes, produces & sings, inviting you into her ethereal and haunting world. mokusla’s music invokes a dream-like feeling, blending dream-pop, traditional folk and electronic elements. Her practice is vast and multi-disciplined across visual, audio & written work.
Since the release of her debut EP 'you don't know what you're missing' in October 2022, her songs have been featured on BBC Introducing Scotland, BBC Radio Ulster, local radio stations and Nialler9's Best New Irish Playlist. Over the past year, mokusla has played in The Hug & Pint, The Rum Shack, The Old Hairdressers and with Sofar Sounds.
mokusla was recently awarded the PRS x Hen Hoose Mentorship and is currently working on a new project.
