mokusla is the musical alter ego of the Donegal-born artist Lou Rowland, inspired by the Gaelic ‘Mo Chuisle’ meaning my pulse.
The Glasgow-based singer and producer, invites you into her ethereal and haunting world, blending dream-pop, traditional folk and electronic elements. Driven by exploring Celtic traditions and personal experiences, she blends inspiration from a background in classical piano, a love for Irish song and electronic music.
mokusla's debut EP 'you don't know what you're missing' released in October 2022, caught the attention of BBC Introducing Scotland, BBC Radio Ulster and Nialler9. Since then mokusla has been focusing on her immersive live performances, playing alongside artists such as MALKA, Grace Morton, Ripley, Scotstown Dance Band and most recently opening for the acclaimed Lemoncello.
Having been recently awarded Help Musicians funding and the PRS x Hen Hoose Mentorship, mokusla is currently working on her upcoming EP in 2024.
'It's captivating, dream-like and completely transported me into a whole different world' - Phoebe Inglis-Holmes, BBC Introducing.
