- Fear is often the mother of courage.

mokusla is the musical alter ego of the Irish visual artist Lou Rowland, inspired by the Gaelic phrase ‘Mo Chuisle’ meaning my pulse or my darling. The Glasgow-based artist writes, produces & sings, inviting you into her ethereal and haunting world. mokusla’s music invokes a dream-like feeling, blending dream-pop, traditional folk and electronic elements. Her practice is driven by exploring Celtic traditions and personal experiences, influenced by her background in classical piano, folk, Irish music & language.
Having been recently awarded Help Musicians funding and the PRS x Hen Hoose Mentorship, mokusla is currently working on her upcoming EP in 2024.
Since the release of her debut EP 'you don't know what you're missing' in October 2022, her songs have caught the attention of BBC Introducing Scotland, BBC Radio Ulster, local radio stations and Nialler9. mokusla has been performing in well-known Glasgow venues such as The Hug & Pint, The Rum Shack, The Old Hairdressers and with Sofar Sounds. In 2023 she supported the acclaimed MALKA and recently performed at 432's First Footing Festival.
